Conserving Galliformes in the wild

As one of the most threatened groups of birds in the world, urgent action is needed if many species and their habitats are to survive in the wild. Therefore, our strategy involves identifying and carrying out projects that will make a real difference and will reduce the risk of extinction facing the most threatened species. The World Pheasant Association has been involved with many conservation projects in the 30 years since it started. Initially, many of these were designed to find out where species occurred and what their conservation status was. As our knowledge of status and ecology increase, we will become able to promote realistic action to help ensure that species and their habitats survive.

Key regions that we are working in include: Central and South America, Africa, South Central Asia, Eastern Asia, South East Asia

From time to time WPA takes a step back from its day to day conservation work to consider if there may be any conservation problems creeping up on the Galliformes.
