WPA 2012 Convention and AGM - Friday 28 September - Sunday 30 September
The organisation for WPA’s 2012 AGM and Convention is full steam ahead and will be held in Hertfordshire in the small towns of Berkamsted and Tring. Many people have heard of Tring, as although only a small market town, its Natural History Museum is famous for its range of birds and animals collected by Walter Rothschild, 2nd Baron Rothschild.
Tring Natural History Museum is where WPA’s Convention will begin on Friday 28 September and members may arrive in the morning at their leisure, view the extensive and fascinating exhibits free of charge, and have lunch at the museums café or one of the many pubs in Tring. The museum has also kindly agreed to organise a small group tour to view their collection of pheasant skins in the morning. There is no cost involved but there are limited spaces available, arranged on a strictly first come first served basis.
The AGM and presentations will be held in a function room of the Kings Arms in Berkhamsted. Stuart Wilson, Philip McGowan, will be presenting at the Convention and Hein van Grouw, Curator at Tring Natural History Museum, will speak about the aberrations and plumage variations in pheasants. Further information about the programme will be released closer to the time.
Both the Kings Arms and The Bell in Aston Clinton provide accommodation for those wishing to stay on to the Sunday and take the 20 minute drive to Whipsnade Zoo and Wildlife Park which is part of the Zoological Society of London.
