Symposium

Register interest
The World Pheasant Association (WPA) will hold a symposium on the conservation and sustainable management of all species of Galliformes, with a special emphasis on threatened species and their habitats at Taman Safari, Prigen, East Java from 10-14 October 2023.  The objective is to hold a major gathering of all those with an interest in Galliformes and the conservation of these birds and their habitats.

A keynote address from Dr Jon Paul Rodriguez, Director of the Species Survival Commission (SSC), of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), has already prompted interest from the Galliformes Specialist Group and other eminent scientific institutions.

Tours: There are plans for a pre Symposium tour in Singapore and post Symposium tours to the Balaran National Park on Java, the West Bali National Park Bali and Northern Sulawesi.  The provisional dates are:  Singapore over the weekend 6th October 2023, arriving in Prigen on Java for the Symposium from 10th to 14th October before heading off for the rest of the trip.  We would expect a few people will opt to go on to Northern Sulawasi towards the end of the second week finishing around 21 October 2023.  We don't have costs yet, but more information will be forthcoming over the next few months.

Please contact the office if you would like to register an interest in attending.
